Video Encoding Preferences

Video Encoding Preferences page is a part of Preferences dialog. As you can see, this page lets you choose the video/audio codecs to use in the Video Converter and Video Joiner tools.

Video/Audio Compression Format Configuration

Choose Recommended Codecs using the drop-down lists for Video and Audio codecs.

What codecs are recommended:

DiVX 3.11 Low-Motion and Fast-Motion Video Codecs You can download these codecs from here.

XVid 1.20 Video Codec You can download this codec from here.

MPEG Layer-3 Audio Codec You can download this codec from here.

PCM Audio Codec is available in your Windows operating system by default. You can use this codec too, though resulting files will be much longer than files, created with MP3 codec.

WARNING: You may see a Windows XP warning message, when you run the DIVX and MP3 codecs installer, pointed above. This is because these codecs have no Windows XP signature. Nevertheless they work properly in Windows XP. Please ignore this warning message, if it appears, and continue installation process.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: XVID Video Codec has a known bug, preventing movie playback in so called "compatibility mode". Therefore please ensure that "Use VMR Mode for Preview" checkbox of the Video Converter is set, when you're using XVID codec. Another resolution of this bug is to open XVID Video Codec Configuration dialog and set the "FOURCC" signature to "DIVX" before encoding. Click "Video Settings" button in the Video Converter window, then click "Other Options" button at the bottom of "XVID Configuration" dialog for that.

IMPORTANT! Using free version of the DivX codec you may see a logo, appearing at the bottom right screen corner of the video frame, when you preview encoded video file. This logotype appears on screen only -- it is not embedded into your file. Therefore your final FLV video file will be free from this logotype.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: You can choose other codecs than recommeded by "All Codecs" radiobuttons selection. Meanwhile, the correct behaviour of the Video Converter tool, as well as FLV Video Encoder is not guaranteed in this case.
